Philosophy for Children
Philosophy for children (P4C) consists of presenting children with a stimulus which might be a picture, a poem, a story, an event etc. Then the children engage in what is known as “Socratic dialogue” to deepen their understanding of the stimulus. Ultimately it is designed to deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them. It is taught discretely throughout the school by a specialist higher level teaching assistant (HLTA) and as part of other subjects.
