Welcome back to the St Peter’s Primary School newsteam. The girls have alot of news to cover, discussing activities at the school that have occurred throughout the week and future events and news.

It was a very interesting day today for our year five pupils at St Peter’s Primary School, Walworth. Todays subject was all about understanding seeds and seed disbursement in fruit.

The class took a field trip to East Street Market to buy a selection of fruits and later that day, conducted a series of experiments to find out how seeds are similar in certain fruit families, such as the Citrus fruits and how these seeds are disbursed to allow the crop to reproduce.

We took some pictures of the experiments as they took place so please take some time to go through them.

We spent some time with the nursery children at St Peter’s Primary School today and they were having alot of fun learning about worms and other insects.

The children used magnifying glasses to get a closer look at some worms in their natural habitat and also made some of their own worms using spagetti! We took some pictures of the day so please take some time to have a look through them.

Parent Gym

The 5 week Parent Gym course will take place again every Wednesday morning next half term. If you would like to sign up for this please see the leaflet that goes out today. During the last week of this half term, there will be an open meeting for all parents who are interested – we will send out the date and time soon.
 

Summer Disco

Our Summer Disco this year will take place on Friday 25 May. As last year, Early Years and KS1 will go first and KS2 will go home and come back a little later. A letter will be sent out nearer the time.
 

Additional Bank Holiday

The DFE has sent out advice allowing schools to take their Jubilee Bank Holiday at another time if it falls within their half term break (5th June). Therefore, school will be closed on Friday 1st June 2012 for our Bank Holiday entitlement.
 

Summer Fair

This year our Fair is to be on Friday 15th June after school. It is the first Friday back after the half term and is earlier than in previous years due to a very booked up term! We need all children to bring in at least one item for the raffle and tombola in order to get their House Points! There will be meetings with parents about arrangements so do come and join in and help in any way you can. Look out for the posters!
We will need cakes, food, raffles, tombola and any brilliant ideas to help make this day as fun as possible for our children.

It’s a huge welcome back from the blog team at St Peter’s Primary School, Walworth; and although the girls have only been back for one whole week, they still have a plethora of news items to give you.

The girls tell us about the wonderful praise received by Year four from the Southwark Cathedral during their rehearsal of their Ukelele concert. The live show will take place at the Cathedral on Tuesday 24th April 2012 so please try and make it.

Friday 20th April 2012 marked the day for the St Peter’s Primary School Easter Bonnet Parade. The children had all been working hard over the Easter break to produce some wonderful, colourful and creative bonnets for this special day.

It was a difficult task to judge the winners as all of the children looked so amazing in their special hats as they marched around the church grounds and then back to the school.

We had a real treat at St Peter’s Primary School, Walworth on the last day of term as we watched a wonderful performance by our Nursery class during assembly.

It was an extremely active day on 23rd March 2012 at St Peter’s Primary School, Walworth.

The entire school took part in a number of activities today to raise money for Sports Relief 2012. These activities included:

• Lets Dance for Sports Relief
• Teachers Vs Pupils six aside football
• Pentalty Shootout competitions

On the afternoon of March 15th at St Peter’s Primary School, Walworth; our year two pupils performed their dance interpretation of “The Fire of London” in front of parents and staff.

The children have been working hard rehearsing in preperation for their debut performance today. The ribbons used during the performance represent both the great fire and the water used by the heroic London folk to extinguish the flames.

Year two gave a fantastic performance and clearly had a great time, and we allenjoyed watching them. Please take a look at the video below shot during the performance and after the video, we have a short slideshow of the pictures taken during rehearsals.
