Our nursery class at St Peter’s Primary School have enjoyed book week immensely. The children are encouraged to explore reading and understanding how books can expand your mind and can be so much fun!

The nursery children really enjoyed their time with the year five pupils during peer reading sessions. It was also encouraging to see how the older pupils took to the challenge so well and took time to explain the stories to the younger pupils to help them understand and visualise what was going on in the books that they were reading together.

Books are always readily available in the nursery book corner and the children do spend alot of time reading and exploring the many books available to them.

During Book Week, the children read many Bible stories, including the story when Joseph went to Egypt. After reading this story, the children made some Pyramids using straws and play dough.

They also made finger puppets of the characters from the story for a puppet show.
